Your site is readable on any device when you use responsive design.
About half of the visitors to your site use cell phones and tablets. If they have to “pinch and zoom” to read, they will move on; however, if your site is designed using responsive design, elements like photographs and type, resize to fit the dimensions of the device screen. Responsive design makes your site device independent.
True responsive design looks good on any desktop or a mobile phone or any other device. If you see a site with HUGE type and images, you can assume that the site was designed to be readable on a mobile device but the desktop version suffers.
Here are two versions of the same site. Either version is useful. (They are not to scale. The desktop version would be much larger.)
